INTRODUCTION
BALI LIVING |
 |
Just
three decades ago “Bali living” simply meant
chicken fights, going to the market at 5 AM with the villagers,
ceremonies for every occasion, - a laid back, simple style
of life in the tropics. That has changed drastically.
Although the ceremonies still govern Balinese life, the
markets still open at 5 in the morning, and the island
is still in the tropics – lifestyle has developed
or branched out in so many various ways. |
On both
sides: on side of the local villagers and the newcomers to the
island, may they be temporary residents, or “Expats”.
Tropical
living by now covers the whole range on the FOREIGNERS SIDE
from nostalgic bamboo hut dwellers and in-village residents
to tropical estate residents, and high end villa compound owners.
On the
LOCAL SIDE “Bali living” ranges from rice farmers
and village dwellers to medium class city dwellers in western
style housing areas with car port and satellite dish, to very
rich landlords and Rajas (king) estates, Business men, bankers,
and multi corporation investors.
The rainbow
is complete – you certainly will find YOUR niche in the
multicultural, multinational, multi-style “pot luck”
of Balinese Living.
